Heidi MacEwen, RYT, is a certified Group Exercise Instructor through the Aerobics and Fitness Associates of America (AFAA) since June 8, 2008 and a graduate of Mama Nirvana’s New Yoga 200hr teacher training program 2013-2014. Prior to opening Pilates Flex & Fusion Fitness Studio she taught classes at Gold’s Gym in Chicopee, MA from 2008 to June 2012. She is a certified BODYPUMP instructor. In addition to BODYPUMP Heidi also taught a FusionFLOW class at Gold’s. This class was best described as a mind/body fitness workout that blends standing Pilates, ballet, Yoga, calisthenics, control movements that focuses on breath, balance, strength and posture to elongate muscles and burn calories.
In furthering her learning of the Fusion style classes Heidi has attended several workshops with PowderBlue Productions to include PiYO Instructor Training in May 2009 and also completed the PiYo Strength Instructor training in March 2012 now with Beachbody. Heidi is also a Beachbody Fitness Coach.
Heidi is also a certified instructor for the Balletone Sole Synthesis program. She initially attended the Sole Synthesis Instructor training in July 2010 and again in Feb. 2012 where she earned her Master Balletone Ambassador (MBA) status as a Sole Synthesis Instructor. She also attended the Standing Flow Instructor training in February 2011 and again most recently in April 2013, also earning the MBA in the Balletone Standing Flow format.
Finally, Heidi was a student of Gayle Stefanelli of Stretch Yoga Center (the former owner of the studio) since they met in April 2008, primarily taking her Pilates classes. When time allowed she also enjoyed Gayle’s yoga classes. Heidi will miss her mentor greatly but is very thankful for the opportunity to continue on with her studio and teachings and the hopes that you may enjoy her Pilates, Total Body workout classes, new Fusion style class offerings as well her Yoga, too.
Lee Callagher is a graduate of Sun Power Yoga teacher training and registered with Yoga Alliance since 2009. Lee also received her certificate as an Integrative Yoga Therapist with Joseph LePage in the same year. She is currently attending Mama Nirvana’s 2013- 2014 yoga teacher training program in an effort to find a holistic and compassionate yoga suitable for everyone.
Lee has always enjoyed teaching people and empowering them with the education and guidance to help themselves. She is a dedicated Occupational Therapist with 24 yrs. experience and is currently working with the elderly in the homecare setting. She feels that stress is the underlying culprit for many of today’s health issues but does not have to be. Her focus is on teaching yoga techniques to anyone who wants to balance the mind, body and spirit in a safe and relaxing environment.
Sarah Marcotte discovered yoga in 1997. She appreciates the personal and physical strength, mental and physical flexibility and overall calming yet energizing effect yoga has had on her life. She hopes that her yoga classes will bring this same sense of energized relaxation to others, while also building up core strength and confidence.
Sarah creates a non-judgmental, supportive and safe atmosphere, encouraging students to connect the body and mind utilizing pranayama (breath) with movement. Wishing to incorporate her yoga practice into her work as a child & adolescent trauma therapist, she enrolled in Mama Nirvana’s 2013-2014 teacher training. She believes that practicing yoga promotes health, connection, healing and joy.
Susan Moore is a recent graduate of Mama Nirvana’s yoga teacher training program. She began the practice of yoga in 2009 after over 20 years of martial arts and tai chi study. Yoga has allowed her to express the strength and agility she developed through martial arts with the opportunity to explore yoga’s more subtle practices of mind and breath.
In her day job Susan is a Physical Therapist Assistant at PT Partners, where she assists people in recovering from a wide variety of orthopedic conditions. She loves nothing more than to help people get strong and learn to move in a more relaxed, authentic and natural way. Her yoga classes balance the development of strength and sound technique with the chance to enjoy a feeling of energy, relaxation, and peace.
Virginia Constant was a ballet dancer growing up and learned to love movement. While a student at Mount Holyoke College, Virginia discovered her love for yoga. She completed a 200-hour teacher training at West Hartford Yoga in Connecticut. She is excited to share her love of yoga with everyone at Total Body Yoga and Pilates.
