It’s official, Fall is here! It is a favorite time of year for many people. However, as we find ourselves in the back to school season with busy schedules and lives, these changes can also lead to stress for individuals. Don’t forget to schedule in some “ME” time too ! We are here to help and excited to be adding in additional YOGA classes and welcoming new instructors to the studio. Check out the new Fall Schedule.
Susan’s Tuesday evening yoga class is now a Vinyasa Flow class which is described as ~Yoga postures linked through movement and breath into a continuous flowing sequence. Followed by hip opening poses and deep relaxation. In addition I will now be teaching a beginner/advanced beginner Yoga class on both Monday and Thursday evenings. This class is the practicum part of my Yoga Teacher Training program with Mama Nirvana’s New Yoga which training began in Feb. of this year. With the later time slot this class will help to bring relaxation, restoration and calming from the day and week before it with asanas (poses) held a little longer to settle the body and mind.
I am also excited to introduce Sarah Marcotte as our newest instructor to the studio. Sarah discovered yoga in 1997. She appreciates the personal and physical strength, mental and physical flexibility and overall calming yet energizing effect yoga has had on her life. She hopes that her yoga classes will bring this same sense of energized relaxation to others, while also building up core strength and confidence. She creates a non-judgmental, supportive and safe atmosphere, encouraging students to connect the body and mind utilizing pranayama (breath) with movement. Wishing to incorporate her yoga practice into her work as a child & adolescent trauma therapist, she enrolled in Mama Nirvana’s 2013-2014 teacher training. She believes that practicing yoga promotes health, connection, healing and joy. Sarah will be teaching a beginner/advanced beginner Yoga class on Monday afternoons from 4:00 – 5:15pm.
Autumn is a transitional time of year. The leaves on the trees change, it becomes darker earlier, and the temperatures cool down. Is this the season that you have set as one of your goals to take some time for you and begin your journey towards good health and happiness? Or ready to get back on track with what we started earlier this year? Why not try a Pilates class to strenthen your core, a YOGA class to rejuvenate the body and mind, a total body workout to build strength and balance, or a Fusion style class, such as Balletone’s Sole Synthesis, Standing Flow or PIYO. Don’t let the low impact workouts fool you as you will surely work-up a sweat and burn calories while lengthening and stretching tight muscles and challenging balance.
Let’s take this time together to tone, strengthen and prepare our bodies and minds to welcome a new season of growth and renewal. We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty. – Maya Angelou ~ Although we are working hard there are plenty of smiles, laughs and stories to share that find their way into our workouts. With yoga mats, blocks, bands and balls we work to tone it all !
Don’t worry if you’ve never taken a pilates or yoga class or a group exercise class before–we all start somewhere! Why not come, bring a friend or make some new ones? Visit the studio and give a class a try. Remember First Class if FREE !!! What have you got to loose? Classes are small so individual attention and instruction is easily provided.
If you’re new to the Pilates method of body conditioning, it is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises developed over 90 years ago by Joseph Pilates. It strengthens and tones muscles, improves posture, provides flexibility and balance to connect and condition the whole being–body and mind–and create a more streamlined shape. All classes incorporate barefoot training from Pilates to PIYO, Total Body Workouts and Balletone: Sole Synthesis and Standing Flow, to the Tai Chi and Yoga classes we stretch our toes and stretch our minds and strengthen our bodies and spirits. Hope you can join us.
We look forward to seeing you and hearing your thoughts as we continue to grow and learn, gain strength, flexibility, wellness and health. Bring a friend, or come to meet new ones. Take some time to bring balance into your bodies and minds!
